Samurai champloo is a piece of crap. Totally wasted my time watching an anime with barely a story. Voted worst anime of the year.
Nightshade your an idiot, you havent even seen every anime in that year....so shtum.
Yes it barely has a story, but when you decide to watch an anime that is a samurai/hip hop fusion, you would think to have the common sense to abandon any hope of there being a deep, meaningful story, and realise that its going to be all about style.
And samurai champloo has it in abundance.

Exceptional animation (Especially the fight choerography)
And to be honest, the character development wasnt pretty good.
And some of the sub stories with the main arc where brilliant (Jin and the prostiture and Sara come to mind)
I would reccoment anyone reading these posts to completely ignore nightshade, as he's skull is obviously vacant, i emplore difering opinions, but saying its the worst anime of the year is so unbelievably idiotic that he shoud be tied up and promptly shot dead.
I reccomend samurai champloo, rurouni kenshin, samurai x and samurai 7.
Kinda late to this, but Shigurui death frenzy was not on the list which I think it should have been. About Samurai Champloo...its absolutely great. fighting scenes are off the hook not only because of awesome choreography, but they are also highly styalised and fused with hip-hop. Couldnt have asked for more.
